Written of The Bellows-- "The band is supported by some its own influences,
including Lloyd Cole and The Chameleons U.K. Playing Beatlesque songs
with a modern Radioheadish and Travis-like feel...."

opening the show will be Chris von Sneidern

Written of Chris von Sneider--

"The warmth and grace of CvS' music has been
recognized by fans and critics alike. Goldmine has compared him to Big
Star and Badfinger, while renowned music critic Michael
Goldberg has declared: "If the remaining ex-Beatles had any guts,
they'd seek out von Sneidern to participate in a Beatles reunion.
The guy is that good."

Mark Burgess of the legendary band, The Chameleons U.K., returns to The Great American Music Hall after seven years to perform with The Bellows.

Manchester, England produced a few of the most influential bands of the eighties: The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Chameleons (known as The Chameleons U.K. in the states). Some fourteen years after their last studio album, The Chameleons have recently been resurrected by the devotion of fans who have never ceased keeping their music alive. They recently recorded an acoustic album of old classics (and a couple new tracks) called STRIP. Following the success of two acclaimed sell out gigs in Manchester and London in June 2000, they have decided to write an all new studio album to be released early next year. The Chameleons always maintained a passionate following, though they disbanded before achieving mass success. TEARS and SWAMP THING were the songs to receive the most American radio airplay. The legend of The Chameleons has grown over the years with their influence apparent in such bands as Radiohead. Their only San Francisco appearance was with The Mighty Lemon Drops in 1987 to a sell-out crowd at the I-Beam.

Lead singer and bassist, Mark Burgess has been playing and recording music since the break-up of The Chameleons. His loyal fans have continued to support and demand his music. In 1993, he played an acoustic show at The Great American Music Hall with local singer/songwriter, James Oakes. And now, seven years later, Mark Burgess will be playing again at the Great American Music Hall with James Oakes and opening the show will be Oakes' band, The Bellows. The Bellows are alternative melodic guitar pop, having been compared to The Smiths, Radiohead, and Travis. They have one full length CD, and will be releasing their new EP, WAY DOWN at the show.
